Grillin' Out is Back!

I'm so happy Carl got home in time tonight to help me move the gas grill to the deck!  We've had it in storage in the garage all winter, because our deck is not covered.  Usually we get about two feet of snow back there as well, so grilling out in the winter is a no go for us.  We moved it back out to its proper place this evening, and fired her up!  Ahhhhhh, Carl and I love grilled food, and grilling is such a healthy cooking option for you too.  Great!

When I went grocery shopping this evening after work, I was banking on us moving the grill, so I picked up some Laura's Lean Beef, New York Strip Steaks that happened to be on sale today!  (Target must have known that I wanted to grill too!) :D

I really like Laura's Lean Beef.  It has a great flavor, and you always seem to truly get a lean cut of beef.  Look at this beautiful steak!  Hardly any fat in sight, and it's going to be so tender!  I put a little extra virgin olive oil, some pepper, and some onion and garlic powder on them for seasoning - very simple.

Then, I put the steaks on the grill to do their thing.  Mmmmmmmm! :)

While I was waiting on the steaks, I snacked on a couple of the new tortilla chips I bought with some salsa.  These are Tostitos MultiGrain tortilla chips.  They were really tasty, and had a little kick to them.

I also prepped us some salads, and some Barilla whole grain spiral noodles with a little bit of Smart Balance butter melted on them.

In our salads:
- butter and spring mix lettuce
- cucumbers
- carrots
- mushrooms
- fat free feta cheese
- walnuts
- dried cranberries
- pepper

I had the steaks on the grill for about 12-15 minutes.  They came out medium.  Carl and I really like ours medium well, and I think they could have stayed on the grill a few more minutes, but they were still delicious, and so juicy!!!!  Mmmmmm!

This was truly a feast of goodness!!!

I got super full about halfway through my steak, but I wasn't wasting any of it!  I just pushed right on through.  After dinner, I was so full I thought that a walk with Vlad was in order.  There was no way I was going to sit around after eating all of that food.  So, I grabbed my ipod and Vlad and I headed out for a 30 minute walk.  It is such a gorgeous night tonight.  The walk was fabulous.  Listening to tunes and hanging out with Vlad really made me happy! :)  Plus, Vlad and I met a new dog - a white and brown spotted doggie!

When I got home, Carl modeled his new cross training shoes for me.  They just came in the mail yesterday.  He needed cross training shoes for his cardio strength training routines - more stability than his running shoes.  These are New Balance Training 841's.

Off to bed in little while.  Have to get up early tomorrow, but at least it's Friday!!!!

I'm so jealous right now of hearing you talk about going on your walks/runs. It's been 3 weeks since I tore my MCL and I'm still not ready to do a lot. It's killing me to sit around and take it easy. Yes, I know it needs rest, but this girl wants to get moving!

We grilled out last night too!! Adam took care of all the grilling while I did my walk/jog. We had Chix Breasts with Mrs. Dash on them - they were divine!! Plus, who doesn't love the smell of grilling out?? That alone does wonders for me!!
